The President’s Message - 1st Quarter 2009

Hello.  I’m honored to serve as the President of NAPM-AZ for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.  And boy, we are hard at work scheduling exciting and new educational opportunities for you to participate in during the course of the year.

During our July planning session, the Board developed goals and objectives to focus on during the year for you.   The goals developed during the planning session are:

Goal #1 – Increase quality of programs, topics and presenters

Achieve –Quality programs, wow factor

Preserve – NAPM-AZ Mission

Avoid – Members not attending monthly meetings, companies not seeing value of membership

Goal #2 – Increase, retain and attract new members

Achieve – Value of  programs

Preserve – Affiliate

Avoid – Losing more members, reasons for companies not to renew membership if value isn’t present

Goal #3 – Communications – what are we doing and how are we doing it?

Achieve – New members, new organizations and companies that see value in NAPM-AZ

Preserve – Mission Statement

Avoid – Declining membership numbers

Goal #4 – Improve Value

Achieve – More value that people are willing to pay for.

Preserve – Mission Statement

Avoid –Low monthly meeting turnout, cancellation of monthly meetings.

Goal #5 – Continue with mentoring program with ASU

Achieve- Professional growth for mentors, purchasing experience and development for students. Exposure to large companies at SCMA meetings, professionalism with NAPM-AZ members to talk in front of classes, gets exposure.

Preserve – Mission statement, professional growth for NAPM-AZ members, educational value.

Avoid – Disappointing the students, fulfilling our promises to the students and professors.

Goal #6 – Membership, invite companies to meetings at member rates

Achieve- New members

Preserve – Affiliate

Avoid – Declining membership numbers

Goal #7 – Look into monthly events instead of monthly dinner meetings.  Plant tours, networking events, round table discussions, etc.

Achieve –More value, less costly than holding meetings at hotel, wow factor.

Preserve – Mission, educational value

Avoid – Monthly costs of the hotel that eat into our affiliate money
