The President’s Message -
4th Quarter
2006
Dear
Members and Supply Chain Leaders in Arizona,
It
is an exciting time to be a part of the largest Supply Chain Association in
the world as well as one of the most respected. Did you realize as a
member, you are part of a membership base that includes more than 40,000
supply management professionals with a network of domestic and international
affiliated associations? Our affiliate, NAPM – Arizona, is Arizona’s
largest ISM affiliate and is a leader in providing opportunities for the
promotion of the profession and the expansion of professional skills and
knowledge. Recently your board was in Las Vegas where the affiliate
received two awards including the 2006 Affiliate Spirit Award and the 2006
Recognition of Merit for Affiliate Excellence. Congratulations to a job
well done!
As
for the future, we have an exciting year planned for 2006 and 2007. In
August, your dedicated board completed our annual summer planning session
and targeted six goals for the 2006- 2007 year. All of the goals were
created to benefit the membership in accordance with the by-laws of our
organization
-
Goal #1 – Website
Improvement – The
www.napmaz.org website is one of our biggest communication tools for
our affiliate and we will be improving the overall look, feel, and
functionality of the site. We are currently working with a
Webmaster/Designer to make this a reality.
-
Goal #2 – Increasing
the Membership – Is a basic necessity for the promotion of the Supply
Chain profession to have a large and strong presence in Arizona. So it
is crucial to consistently increase the number of active members to our
NAPM-AZ affiliate. Every month we will be tracking the membership
roster to set targets in increasing affiliate membership. Your board is
also coming up with innovative ways of retaining the membership we have.
-
Goal #3 – Speaker
Improvement – Our Association’s By-Laws state that we are to provide and
promote the education of the Supply Chain Industry and we will try to do
so to the best of our ability. We have already developed a Speaker
Contract that better manages the process. We also are constantly
striving to bring the affiliate the best speakers for our Membership
meetings that are within our financial limitations.
-
Goal #4 – Continue to
offer Education Seminars and Review Sessions – We have been successful
in past years and will continue to offer comprehensive educational
seminars that bring a tremendous value to the membership and attendees.
-
Goals #5 –
Maintaining the Financial Stability of the Affiliate – All good
organizations are responsible in this area and we are no exception. As
a non – for profit affiliate, it will be our goal to control the cost to
a break-even point.
-
Goal #6 – Mission
Statement Review and Revision - It is our goal this year to take a good
look at the current Mission Statement and make necessary changes that
will keep us on track for future success.
In
summary, we have developed a series of obtainable goals that will benefit
the NAPM-AZ affiliate for years to come and ultimately bring value to our
constituents – members, community and the industry. The Board Members you
have elected are a talented group of individuals who bring a tremendous
value to the organization and I personally look forward to working with them
this year.
Sincerely,
Chad West, C.P.M., CFPM
