To NAPM-AZ Officers, Board of Directors, and Members:
This letter is to thank you for the honor of your selection
of me to receive the Dr. Hal Fearon Award for Purchasing Excellence for
2002-2003. I am—in a word, still in a bit of shock to receive this highly
prestigious award—an award named for one of the truly unique individuals ever to
be associated with this organization—Hal Fearon, and I still find it difficult
to put into words my exact feelings from last night when Jim Stull announced my
name as the recipient of this word!
As I have said to many of you on many occasions, my goals
have always been to bring honor and professionalism to this affiliate—and for me
to make even a small positive mark in someone’s life is something that will
surely stay with me for the rest of my life! And—to be honored for something
that I’ve really enjoyed doing since 1987, is something that is indescribable
even to me! You have all been great to work with over these many
years—even for those of you that I have had very little contact with. But please
realize that even bigger challenges still remain for us all—challenges that will
continue to grow and evolve even as we move forward today. So I say to each one
of you: seek out these challenges as they develop, and understand that while the
rewards may not be readily visible up front--they really do exist, but only if
you are willing to face them—and still have fun while doing so!
Again—thank you for your support and confidence in my efforts
to make this association the biggest and the best in this Valley. We’ve come a
long ways in the short time that I’ve been a member here, and we still need
everyone’s continuing support to remain successful during these challenging
times!
Cordially,
Steve Troxel, C.P.M., A.P.P.
